OceanLED Launches Amphibious Lighting for 2008
OceanLED Launching an Innovative New Lighting Range for 2008

Amphibians is the world’s first lighting collection designed to be used both in and out of the water.

The first light of the new collection, The Amphibian 3 (A3) will be launched at this year’s Miami Boat Show (Booth 1944) on February 14 -18 with the next two models following shortly after.

The Amphibian 3 (A3) is a small (3½” x 1½”), powerful economical underwater light; specifically designed for pleasure craft up to 23 feet and is set to be the next “must have” accessory for all boating enthusiasts.

OceanLED has created this new range based on the increasing demand for underwater lighting on smaller boats; subsequently providing consumers with a high quality, low priced underwater lighting solution without sacrificing on quality. The old adage, ‘the bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price’, has been a constant driving force for this entry level light as more products from the Far East enter the market.

The injection moulded Amphibian Range has been designed with a unique linear shape, versatile enough to be mounted onto any transom and requiring just a quarter of an inch hole for the cable entry. The Amphibians are exceptionally easy to install and can be used on a variety of surfaces such as  trim tabs, engine brackets or even on boat trailers for night launching.

Despite its small size, the A3 is extremely powerful. Using only 3w in power it provides the equivalent light output of a halogen underwater light. Using the very latest LED technology, the Amphibians have an ultra low power draw, 40,000 hour LED life and pure unfiltered colours. In addition, extensive OceanLED research has enabled all electronics to be built directly into the Amphibian light range, therefore alleviating the need for an external LED driver.

Once fitted, the Amphibians are virtually maintenance free. These lights are injection moulded in a state-of-the art high tech polymer that is resistant to almost all know solvents and adhesives, and is completely corrosion proof. In addition, OceanLED is renowned for using Tritonium glass. These unique glass lenses have been specifically designed by OceanLED and Tritonium Optical Technologies (a research laboratory specialising in optical systems) to inhibit barnacle build up and ensure that the polymer light lens cannot be scratched like other polycarbonate underwater lights.

The A3 retails at $299  (€200) and is available with super white, super blue and super green LEDs.

Check the OceanLED website www.oceanled.com for further details and release dates of the Amphibian 6 (A6) and the Amphibian 12 (A12).
